The Forever Rifle: rOm's Scout Rifle

I generally agree when it comes to Mossberg rifles but there’s just something about this one I’ve always liked
I never really even considered Mossberg, but ended up with their MVP Scout in .308 and it's been one of my favorite rifles. It's not a bench rifle, but for me, it's been a solid and on a good day, it's capable of 1MOA for me. The only downside is that it has a heavy-ass barrel, but it does balance okay (until I put a suppressor on it).

Magazine compatibility was important to me. Yes, their OEM mags work fine, but the best are the SR25 aluminum 10 rounders are the sweet spot. Lancers work great too, but are pretty expensive. M1A mags work, but the spring tension and follower put more drag on the bolt.

If you like the "accutrigger", you'll like the MVP. Zero complaints on grabbing a Mossy MVP Scout in .308.

A lever action in 7.62 x39 or .300 Blackout or 6.6 SPC with a 10 round or even 15 round rotary magazine would be my ideal long gun to take in the vehicle for a cross country trip. I don't think hunting bison would be a role that I envision this rifle fulfilling. Although dispatching a wounded / road-struck one with a close range headshot might be within the realm of possibility. A carbine that is capable of taking down medium sized game at 150 yards would be sufficient for me.

What do yall think about the new Ruger American scout rifle?
Looks cool but for $850 you could just about buy a Ruger Gunsite Scout.

We special ordered one of those for a customer not that long ago. I think we charged him around $675 for it.

Cerakote / rattle can covers a lot of sins.
