The legend of Norinco & Polytech

Although I got my 1st AK around 1989, a $300 Clayco and then 2 yrs later a $79 SKS, I didn’t really catch the china bug until 20 years ago, so missed out on some of the rarer ones
I do remember not too long ago the saigas were less than 300 as a sporting rifle, and I didn't buy any of those either.

There is a older gentleman I am now I am neighbors with and he brings his guns over for me to clean the barrel and keep it oiled since he doesn't have the necessary items to do it. He bought over the Norinco MAK 90 and I refinished the wood to a slightly more acceptable color and touched up the bad areas of surface rust. I think it turned out really nice. I was very skeptical of the accuracy of anything related to AK-47 but at 50 yards with open sights I kept the groups within one inch. That's really surprised me considering the stories you hear about accuracy of the AK-47. I've become great friends with this gentleman and he has promised me this rifle when he passes. We'll see how that goes but I would love to have it because it's a real nice example. The wood was this horrible puke yellow but it turned out really nice with the light Walnut stain I put on it. I had to use a sealer before I stained the stock but it turned out nice, I think.

That's a NHM 91.
