The name "bushmaster" seems to add a few hundred dollars to ARs for sale

I have noticed this recently. Other than the real quality brands, bushmasters seem to be consistently priced several hundred dollars more than all the other brands. I cant think of any reason other than It being the brand used in so many of the mass shootings and their name has been all over the news. Even the carbon fibers are priced higher than most mid level quality brands. I have never really thought of bushmaster as being top shelf. Am I wrong on that?

Bushmaster was the best rifle money could buy until around 2004. They really went to **** when freedom group took them over.

Did not know that. Did not get into ARs until past couple years and always saw the reviews as fairly mediocre or negative. So does that mean the Wyndham brand is quality? I heard they were founded by the old bushy people.

they are average ARs and are a name brand for certain. dont know if its the media recently or how few competitors there were in the market for so long. their brand doesnt appeal to me personally. if i was looking Bushy id want to see Windham markings on it.

Bushmaster is on par with Asperegers. Which is why it is crap compared to a Colt. You didnt see a retard shoot up a school with a colt. But I guess he was able to relate with a Bushmaster.

I don't see the big deal myself, I have a Bushmaster M4 Patrolman's Carbine made in Windham, Me. and it's a good rifle. Never had any problems with it, it's accurate and reliable. I've had other Bushmasters in years past along with Colt's and they've all been good rifles. I've seen other AR's that were a lot worse and still others that were better but much more expensive.

A Bushmaster is a good basic black rifle. I'm a former Army grunt, who had the cool opportunity to spend some time as a unit armorer; and I can tell you that if you saw the condition of some of the rifles in my arms room, then looked at a Bushmaster AR, you'd think the Bushie was awesome. Yet, proper care and maintenance kept those, Colt's that you could see through, that you had to bend it to hold it together to get a proper site picture, kept on firing.

Bushmaster certainly isn't my first choice, but that is only because we've become complacent and spoiled, and we have so many options nowadays. It would do in a pinch.

So, was it that the Colts had been abused, or that they were poorly manufactured. Hard to imagine poor manufacturing.

Just to give you an idea of how much the name currently matters.

I just came back from my dealer and while I was there picking up my latest fix someone was eyeballing the single bushie he had. A gentleman next to me said that if the other guy didn't buy it that he would. Then the holder decided to purchase it and the guy next to me mumbled under his breath. I then jokingly told him that I would sell him either my Rock River or my Sig and he laughed and said no way.

Personally I think they are a little higher quality then current bushies. But that's just my opinion.
