Damn damn damn……i was at a local store a while back and tried Woodford Double Oaked. I loved it at the time. Thought it was d-lish-us. Finally made room in the booze bin to buy one. Tried it yesterday and it wasn’t my jam. Too smoky….like waaaay too hickory smoky flavor coming through. (I know it’s not, that’s the secondary aroma I get). I was hoping to love this bottle but it’s not turning out like I hoped.

That’s surprising. I think you are the first person I’ve come across that dislikes it. Maybe a bad batch?

I think I was with you that day, if so, I think the one you tried was a store pick bottle. Maybe that's the difference. Or could just be the batch or something like someone else said. I have had days where I didn't like it as much as other days, I think due to whatever I had ate that day.

That’s right, you were there!

Maybe I got the end of a barrel or something but I recall the store pick being much better. I’ve tried this one 3 different times and always get the same note. It reminds me of how smoky the JT Pepper was. Just overwhelms all the other nuance.
