They should be mandatory

Worked at a place where more vacation days and sick leave were given the longer your tenure was. By 20 years, 4 weeks vacation a year. One could 'bank' unused vacation (to a max of 480 hours) and sick leave (2100 hrs. with max payout of 1200 hours) and cash out upon retirement. I had maxed out vacation and sick leave and got a really nice 'last' paycheck! (Still took plenty of vacation during the year and lucked out not needing sick leave.)

I remember fondly my first job with a Fortune 500 company. They actually paid you for any vacation days you didn't use during the year. That was nice. Seems quaint now.
That does seem quaint. My company has a "use it or lose it" if you don't use days by March the following year. Although, if you leave the company, they will pay out for any vac days you've accumulated.

Same here since 1997. That was the last year IRI paid vacation if unused.

When the time comes, I
100% support
mandatory vacations
for everyone.
If anyone refuses they
should be FORCED.
Another step toward socialism, government mandates, and prohibiting individual self determination!

GOOD JOB COMRADE!

Communists believe oppression is the result of our “mode of production,” which is the way we organize our means for survival. Currently, that system is capitalism.

Sounds like I done gotcha? I sense a wee bit of sarcasm there...
