Thinking about getting a COLT Single Action Army

Is it necessary to get it looked at for timing? I haven't spent 2k on a single gun since I purchased my FN SCAR 17. 2000 is a lot for me to put up just to have to bring it to someone else to insure that it is timed right from factory. As a matter of fact, I will probably be putting this on layaway.

Thank you for the reference though! I'm glad I've got a name now to refer to instead of bringing it to just any gun smith. Does he specialize in SAAs?

Those are beautiful. Did SAAs come with those handles from factory? My eyes can't make out whether they are bone or ivory. I'd love to come shoot one but I've watched some videos last night. The recoil looks manageable with two hand shooting. I don't think I'll ever fire a 45 colt revolver one handed because if I lose hold of it there goes the finish haha on a nice collector's piece. Thank you kindly for the offer though. :D

They are NRA commeratives mad in 1971. Came new-unturned in the presentation boxes. First thing I did was to have Joe time them. They have several thousand rounds and not a hint of ring on the cylinder. The grips are fake Ivory. And when I shoot cowboy I'm in the gunfighter class which is a gun in each hand. Recoil in managable.

Ah I remember doing this on my peacemaker 22 here and there but I was not really worried about safety on that gun. On a 45 colt I probably should do this. Beautiful and dangerous all in one.
ALWAYS WORRY ABOUT SAFETY!! .22lr could change your gender. Ive literally watchet my father in law kill 700# hogs with a 22 single shot rifle.

Had supper with Joe last night. He is like the rest of us, getting older.

Yep thats the truth. I shot cowboy action with him in the late 90's early 2000's. He smoothed up a number of my guns and fixed a couple more. He was one of my favorite guys to shoot with. Great attitude and quite funny, a pleasure to spend the day with. Glad to hear he is doing well.

Now I have the taste for a Marlin 1894 in 357... I have a taste for some cowboy action. I just can't figure out which one I want more :O

If you’ve got 2grand to spend you could buy a Uberti/Cimarron clone and a Winchester 1873 rifle. Might even have enough to buy a nice coach gun too.

Then you probably shot with me too. I was a charter member of the Cherokee Cowboys. SASS #12172 Regulator.
