Thinking about getting a COLT Single Action Army

as others mentioned if you haven't shot a SAA or replica, I'd suggest you start with a replica. Less money but just as fun to shoot and then you can decide if you want to move up to a Colt. Or just buy it, guns are cheap compared to some hobbies and you should get what you want.

I've got one 2nd gen SAA, but the majority of what I shoot are replicas. Uberti, EMF Hartford, AWA, and Cimarron. The two that I keep an eye out for is a match for my 2nd Gen (357 Nickel 4 3/4") and a match for my EMF (Black Powder frame, 5 1/2" 32-20).

The cowboy loads that most shoot out of the SAA revolvers are pretty light and easy to shoot one handed. I"m sure you can load up some hotter rounds (particularly if you go with a Ruger revolver) but the fun of shooting the old 45's is the lighter loads.

Or pick up a good lever gun (92 or 94 from your favorite manufacturer), 12 gauge 97 or coach gun and a set of revolvers and swing by a Cowboy action shoot. Eventually I'll find my way to one of the shoots one of these days.

Then you probably shot with me too. I was a charter member of the Cherokee Cowboys. SASS #12172 Regulator.
Probably did, I was SASS#217** something, dont remember. I mostly shot with Doc Hollidays...Regulators I think, in Griffin. Shot several years and then bought the auto shop I worked for and poof! Free time gone for a while.

Got a ton of clothes that no longer fit! LOL

pretty sure I shot with you.
I was Grat Masterson.
Used to shoot with Joe West, Randy Jackson, TG Reaper, Georgia Slick.....who was the guy that sold clothes...TB Boss?

I remember those guys, and your handle sounds familiar. I was a younger guy compared to most of the CAS folks, and I shot Gunfighter.

TB Boss sold clothes as well as Buffalo Ron. At the Mule Camp headquarters I would offer to sing any cowboy song for one dollar. And for two dollars I wouldn't. I also sold free misses" and raffle tickets. The celebrities selling autographs were at my table. James Drury was NOT a nice person. And I went by the name Rubideaux.

Yep I was thinking of TB Boss, great guy. I only went to Cherokee Cowboys shoots 2 or 3 times. I lived in Smyrna at the time and shot mostly in Griffin. Dahlonega(I think they ended up at Riverbend Gun Club) was where I shot 2nd most often because the ex always wanted to spend the night and hit the outlet mall....
