This years deer gun

I posted in this post a while back that I'd like to get one with my 45-70 lever gun and 45 colt SAA.
Got the first part done Sunday morning. Gonna try it with the SAA this weekend

168gr Amax because that is what I am zeroed with and the gun loves them, I’ve shot 1/4 MOA at 100 yards indoor from a rest...but I know that Amax is technically a hollow point ballistic tip target load that tends to act about like a frangible in a deer.

I shot that buck at 185 and I was trailing meat and more blood than I have ever seen come out of a deer.

As usual, I'll be using my trusty Rem 700 in 22-250 for the majority of the season. Will prob take out the Rem 700 in 7mm Mag at some point, just to show her a little love as well.

Well gang, I got some bad bad news! Noticed my groups opening up on my 250 (OK, I missed two deer in the last week that were well within range of my little laser beam) and after verifying that the scope mounts were tight and nothing had worked it's way lose, I cleaned it and ran a bore scope through it Monday and it was as bad as I thought. I have officially shot the bbl out of that gun. Running the scope through that bbl looked like I was taking a trip around the face of the moon when looking at all the craters. They are not the best, but I attached some pics for your viewing pleasure. Talked to Joe Collier Tue and the plan is to take it to him Friday to have him rebarrel it when he gets time. These came factory with a 1:14 twist. I reload 70gr bullets so I will be getting something with a twist rate more suited for my application. I've got 1:12, 1:9 & 1:8's to chose from...decisions decisions. Anyhow, looks like I will be using either the 7mm Mag or the 6.8 for a while.
