Ticket in Madison...advice?

they just want your cash

unless its over 200 bucks or something crazy i wouldnt attempt to fight it

this is extortion at its most base level

Next time you need an emergency, remember the phrase "I'm about to crap my pants!"

You can call the judges office and as to have it reduced to less than 15 over- that shouldn't effect your insurance. But the fine will be the same... They just want their money.

Call the clerk, explain you were speeding, but not that fast, ask her/him to reduce the speed reported to 9 over the limit, and offer to send in the full amount.

Works most every time in smaller towns/counties, and never shows up on your insurance.

This has not worked in Fulton or DeKalb, but showing up in person day of the "trial" and meeting with the asst DA handling the case has.

Been a few years since I have gotten one though, kids have slowed me down.........

Pay it and move on, you work against a cop and thats one you won't win. Be thankful he dropped her speed, I don't know how fast you were going but could make the difference on a super speeder ticket or not, and I've paid one of those and trust me you don't want one. Since this was your first ticket in a long time you could do driving school to keep it off your insurance if that's a concern.

The other thing I "believe" you can do is have your speedometer checked and calibrated to help get the mileage over reduced. I would only do this though if I was facing a super speeder ticket, although in your case you might need it for the old truck.

Madison is a good little city. I'll pay it I reckon. Is there any truth to "if you pay a little extra $ they'll send you a refund check for the extra. If you never cash the refund check then, the ticket won't show up on your driving record?"

As long as the ticket 14mph or less, it will not go on your record. He already did you a favor if he dropped it by 8 from 20!

I know most the people are saying just pay it. If you feel like you were wronged fight it. Last ticket I got over 10 years ago I challenged it the cop did not show it got dismissed. Can't hurt

I got one a couple years ago 87 in a 70 down in Hahira, when asked if they would reduce the the speed to keep it below super speeder level they said sure for an extra 200 buck they would do that so I just payed the fine there and they gave the state their blood money a couple months later when they billed me for the super speeder but the original ticket was 250 for the revenue generators in that town, my insurance went up 25 bucks for six month premium
