Time for a new barrel

Initially i did want to go with a 1:9 twist. But litterly no one had one in stock anywhere and I'm impatient.
1-8 is the right call between the 8 and 9. Stabilizes the heavier projectiles more consistently. I'd even push to 6.5 if you want to run heavier projectiles. The 75 and 77's will just be "marginally stable" out of the 8 twist.

Yeah After talking to the folks at Southern Precision Rifles 8 twist was the better option. I was just trying to go with a 9 twist to still able to use a bunch of light weight projectiles I already have. No biggie. I'll post em here and sell them off cheap.

I plan to build a load around the 69gr Sierra Match kings and shoot those for the most part.

It'll be interesting to hear how you like the heavier bullets to the lighter ones

This rifle with the 1:14 barrel would stack 52gr SMK’s in the same hole with 35.2gr of H414 moving around 3180fps. It wasnt picky at all with H414 and the 52gr SMk as long as it was seated to the correct depth.

Yea. I have a 223 custom build with a 1 in 14 twist. As long as you use 50gr or less, it shoots great. Loves light bullets. At 62gr, it won't hit the broad side of a barn

Well, I’ve been waiting for someone to ask.
What’s your guess on how many rounds it took to wear your bbl out?

I’ve got a 22-250 and love it. I load a 50 grain to about 3400 ft.

I bout this rifle used in 2007ish with unknown round count, the rifle was built in 2000 according to winchester/browning’s records. This barrel has Been going for a while. Ive just tried to keep it original as I could for sentimental purposes. This is the rifle I learned how to reload on so it has a lot of rounds through it. I have been chasing the lands seating the bullet shallower and shallower in the case for the better part of 15 years now. It’s probably got 5000-10000 rounds through it or more. It got to where I couldn’t seat a 52gr bullet in the case neck anymore, the jump to lands was way too much to get any kind of decent accuracy out of it.

I’ve got a ton of light weight 22-250 ammo and light weight projectiles I’m going to be listing in the next week or so if anyone needs anything pm me.
