The last one I did we planted peanuts on half, sunflower on half, on 60 acres.all said and done we spent $6200 before we ever pulled the trigger.had to replant both plus herbicide and fuel. Our plans were 20 people to have 2-3 good shoots on sunflowers and 2-3 late season on peanuts.we got about 4 shoots total with opening day being the best.i think we all paid 350 each.this was 2005It’s a big money game because there’s a market for it. To many ppl, not enough space. Folks are lined up with money in hand every year and can’t even buy a spot to hunt a decent field on opening day.
Not to mention it cost a pile of money to set a field up for opening day. One that is specifically for a dove opener shoot.
