So what the hell happened to the back of the gunmens car? They said no explosives were found, but the back of that car looks like it went BOOM....

They were concerned about possible explosives in the car so they used charges to open it on up for inspection.

The officer deserves a raise, a promotion, and a gravy job for the remainer of his time on the force. Using a Glock .45 to take out two of them who were armed with rifles and body armor is great work. No matter how high they rank on the douchenozzle meter.

The confrontation lasted 15 seconds. All I can say is that LEO must have been cool as ice to have taken those shots.
