You are wrong. There is way more skill involved than you are giving them credit for. Have you ever wrestled or grappled. This is the most for real combat sport around today. Of course they commercialize it, but it's real.

I miss the old UFC, where ninjas and bikers would get in and beat the hell out of each other. It's no longer "mixed" martial arts, mma is a sport all in itself

It is. It's much more technical now. Bjj, boxing, and wrestling pretty much.
