Unfired VS Fired

I'm with @bambam 's S&W collector on this. I want a cash bond and sworn and notarized affidavit attesting to the unfired condition of the firearm. Complete provenance, names of all factory workers and resumes, distributor's warehouse personnel who may have handled it, original FFL sailor's sworn statements, etc.
I've actually watched someone buy a new gun from Academy and as soon as said person got to their car, list it for 15% +/- above what they paid, including taxes. I just laugh and move on. Personally, I do like to know how many rounds have potentially been fired but honestly without running a bore camera/scope down it, one can never tell... if you don't know the seller, you should trust your gut..

Some folks cain't buy a gun at Academy........juss sayin'.

I don’t buy the one on the shelf, I get a new one in the sealed box from the back room. If that means buying from a big box store then so be it cause I ain’t paying new price for no used gun, been there done that. Fella at a gun shop that actually advertises on here sold me a shotty that was supposedly brand new. When I pattern tested the weapon damn thing shot high and to the left. I was already suspicious cause there was a lot of brass smear on the inside of the receiver. Looked up the date code on the shotty and it was manufactured 3 years ago. For reference I bought a new shotty at adventure and the manufacture date was 6 months prior, and its was in a sealed box brought from the back. Never getting screwed again.

In most weapons I would purchase, it does make a difference in value. But if it's been fired, it's not new. If a weapon has been fired much at all, I can tell a difference. Not sayin it'd be a deterrent, but the price should reflect that. I do like pristine stuff. I do like having all the original stuff when it left the factory. But again, not always a deterrent. But the price should reflect that
