used, abused, triji ACOG's on ebay...where/how do folks get them?

Some armorer found some off the books trust me it happens sometimes the military isn't the best with record keeping I know this because one of my good buddies is an armorer

Hanent you guys ever been to a Government Surplus Auction ? If you can afford to buy in bulk you can get a decent deal. That said I still worry bout clones
Trijicon told me that once an ACOG is DOD it is always DOD. Don't know if there is any truth to that, but I'll stick with new merchandise from reputable dealers.

I'm totally naive on this subject, but, I have a few questions (not trying to be a dick, seriously just curious):

1. If I bought a "hot" Acog, would anyone actually pursue/prosecute - just seems that it is small item to pursue considering the vast majority of other things to worry about

2. Once said Acog left the DOD (in the hands of a Military serviceman), and if indeed someone decided they wanted to make a case out of it, wouldn't the authority be more worried about the seller and not the buyer?

Mind you, I'm not advocating the resale of Govt property, just curious.....

If trijicon or the DOD finds that you are in possession of stolen DOD equipment they will come and confiscate it from you. I have never heard of anyone being charged with anything, however you are still out your high dollar optic.

Has anyone ever had an optic confiscated on a local buyer/seller level?

Yep.

Just a heads up since we're on the topic of stolen government property, there are a ton of Knights Armament 2-600m rear sights for sale on eBay and similar sites. Many of them are marked "USMC" and have a hex head locking bolt. These USMC sights are stolen, every one of them. They have never been sold as surplus and are still being issued. NCIS is actively investigating it because the Corps is losing something like 10-20% of them to thieves. Buyer beware.

As a general rule, if an item worth $1000 can be had for a couple hundred bucks or an item worth $150 can be had for $50, it's probably stolen. Just sayin...

So has anyone had anything actually confiscated??

Sorry, I'm not trying to stir the pot, but I'm genuinely curious if they are just threatening action or actually show up to confiscate...... :noidea:

I know of a dealer in Florida that had to turn over more than 100 KAC sights.
