"R. Richter of the 4th Battalion, 503rd Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade, lifts his battle weary eyes to the heavens, as if to ask "Why?" Sergeant Daniel E. Spencer stares down at their fallen comrade. The day's battle ended, they silently await the helicopter which will evacuate their comrade from the jungle covered hills."



Richter served with the 1er BEP (1st Foreign Parachute Battalion) of the French Foreign Legion before moving to America and joining the US Army. He was shot through the jaw on another tour and was medically retired from the US Army and quietly resides here in Ga.
