Vortex strikefire

Anyone have any dealings with a strikefire? It doesn't look like a dot to me I know my eyes are getting bad but good grief

Ok. I don't want to sound like a dummy but, are you certain that you have it mounted facing forward, not reversed?
I say this because that's what I did when I mounted the first one that I bought and put on my rifle. I called Vortex, and they pointed it out to me!

That's correct. If the dot doesn't appear to be round, you most likely have astigmatism. I had a Strikefire 2 several years ago and the dot appeared round.

Use the camera on your phone to take a picture of the dot through the back of the optic. The pic will show the dot as it truly is, and not how your eye is perceiving it.

Even if that's the case, just use the middle grape. Ask me how I know.

If you use CMShoot's technique and figure out it's your eye and not the red dot, you can try to "fix it" by:

1. Putting a flip up "peep" style between it and your eye. Looking through the aperture will lens the dot and make it round again. You can use this for "precision" work and leave the starburst for up close.

2. Put one of those notebook page reinforcing "donuts" on your safety glasses and look through that at the dot. It does the same thing as #1.

3. Try a green dot. I have found a green dot doesn't "starburst" as badly to me.

4. Buy a low power prism sight. No starburst, etched reticle is always there, but.... eyebox is less forgiving, battery life is shorter.
