I took my new to me M1 Garand apart tonight and greased her. ( 1945 SA with original Barrel )

I followed along with the Brownells video series.

Did all the normal areas that need grease not just lube.

So far this week i have done the following to her.

1. Don't freak out--- I lightly used a rag and mineral spirits on the stock and got a bunch or crud off her. Looked better.

2. Read some old army posts about crappy stocks and washed her with liquid detergent and hot water. Looks way better. I am done. May do tung oil but whatever.

3. Dissambled and greased all internals and reassembled.

4. Found my socket wrench so I can dissemble the gas plug and install a Garand gear plug when needed.

I agree. Your M1 looks nice add some BLO or Tung oil to that stock, use drops on finger tips and run in , wait an hours or so wipe with dry paper towels. Then shoot her.
