My wife and I work full time and my wife has been getting through school. She's been chained to her desk all year and therefore we haven't had time to do anything cool. Well, she's just about done. In September we'll finally have some time to pack up the family and do something.

What's the coolest place you've visited in Georgia?

- I'm taking my family and there's already a strip club thread, thanks.
- My kids are small (baby to 4yr old) but go ahead and list anywhere.
- Dog friendly ideas would be appreciated!

I'll start with the GA spot we've gone to the most:

We've been to just about every State Park in N Georgia. Yargo is our favorite. The trail around the lake is pretty flat so they're good for the off-road type strollers. They have a pretty lax policy for dogs. Lots of people let their dogs off leash and people are good about leashing or at least controlling their dogs when others are around. Nobody has had a problem with us letting our dogs swim in the lake, in fact kids often throw a few sticks in the water for them.

The park isn't especially beautiful, no gorge or mountain views, but the atmosphere just seems really good there. It doesn't bring in crazy tourists or any real party crowds. Great park for a relaxing day.

We might try out a Yurt:

It's not in GA, but close.

Go hit up Chattanooga.
The aquarium is one of the best on the east coast in my opinion.
Can go eat at Sticky Fingers while you are there too. MMMMMMMMMM!
Their wings are awesome.
Then head to Rock City, just so you can say you did!
You could also hit up the Zoo (I've never been too it, just suggesting)

Best part is, you don't even have to stay overnight, you are home in a couple hours.

$2 for the park, $10 to camp. The campsites are huge and right on the river. Plenty of space between sites so you have some privacy. I think there are only 8 sites total in at least a 20 acre space, primitive camping with a central bath house. There are lots of rapids and calm spots on the river. When the water is up it can get a little dangerous in spots, but it's obvious where the danger spots are. It's also one of the few good kayak spots around here.

Chattanooga is a pretty cool city to visit. We've been to the aquarium (awesome) and done a few things on Lookout Mtn.

Here's another I just though of: Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn. My kid's loved this place.
Stroll along a mile-long trail on 24 wooded acres and encounter over six hundred highly sociable birds and animals indigenous to the state of Georgia. White-tailed deer, bunnies, buffalo, sheep, kid goats, black bears and a bevy of new-born animals are waiting to be fed, admired and petted on a “nose-to-nose” basis. We specialize in “people-friendly” wildlife.
