Went to CMP range today-- very, very nice

My first time. Had the 200/300/600 line all to myself-- and it has 54 shooting positions. A very nice range, but I don't like shooting at the big black dots. I find I shoot better when I have something tinier to aim at. For 600 yards, I want a 4-6" aim point. They're "service rifle match" oriented, per the staff, not precision long range. But anyway, it's like a country club out there. Nice folks, and dead during the week.

The electronic scoring is very convenient, but again I wish there was more out there than just a big black circle.

Two hours max from downtown ATL.

I hear talk of an ODT outing... I'm in.

Fantastic place. GeauxLSU put together a M&G there a few months back and it was a great experience. Word is there's going to be another one in the fall.

I'm not going to win any awards, but this is about a 12" group at 600, with an AR.

I found out too late that it could give me the group size. But roughly 12".
