My next AR build will be in 5.45. Ammo is still relatively inexpensive.

any Mosin +++1, the 44 was my first and started this disease of milsurps; the mauser's (Spanish, German, Yugo, etc) are nice but a bit pricier; the Swiss are GREAT guns but ammo runs up;

Cheapest in my dumb opinion are the Mosins M-44 or 91/30's. Real fun get a Garand and listen to the "ping" when the enbloc ejects. My 1903A3 or 1917 are real pieces of bolt action smoothness. Heck just get some of all of them and quit worrying just have fun.

i like the chinese type 53, the wood tends not to be as pretty as the Russian mosins but the function is perfect.
i got mine for $100

Love the round. Still a little cheaper than 5.56 but more expensive than 7.62x39.

PAP pistol + brace = lots of fun at the range.
