What are the point of dreams?

A few thoughts on this and because of the nature of this and how I wrote, disclaimer: I am a Christian pastor and have a degree in Religion with a focus on Bible and Theology. I stand firm in my faith and the way in which I address this should not be seen as affirmation of other faiths:

1. Dating back thousands of years, dreams were said to have a meaning, no matter how obscure or odd they may be. The prophet Daniel wrote about his dream interpreting for Nebuchadnezzar during his time, which earned him prominent status in his government. He even wrote that Nebuchadnezzar had many advisors who tried to help him interpret the prophetic dreams he was having, but only Daniel could. There are other references to dreams and visions in Scripture as well, both Old and New Testament.

2. Following up on the first thought, in the Islamic religion and culture, dreams are seen as having meaning and prophetic even. There are even books on this that Muslims use outside the Quran.

3. In American society, we view dreams as either being nothing or something. I tend to believe some of the science I’ve seen on it, which is that dreams are our subconscious thoughts manifesting, whether good (dreams) or bad (nightmares). I’ve noticed my nightmares come when I’m under a lot of stress or have been through something traumatic or life-altering.

I recall a WWII POW veteran that I met in middle school (20+ years ago). My late grandmother introduced me to him as I was writing a diary entry for my social studies class and wanted to gather firsthand knowledge of WWII from a POW. He told me everything he endured, including coming face to face with Hitler, before finally escaping at the end of the war. He said he had nightmares every night since then and that was 60 years earlier. I sincerely hope he was able to find peace upon death.

I don't really have bad nightmares but just silly dreams. I am never terrified in my sleep just wonder where that stuff comes from. It's just off the wall crazy stuff most of the time. If I tried to interpret those dreams I would go nuts! Literally!

Islam isn’t a culture or religion. It is a governing system dreamed up by a psychopath, if this person even existed at all. It has been proven by historical texts and linguists that Mecca didn’t even exist. It has never been a trading hub. It is uninhabitable. The originators of the Army of Satan were the Nabateans. Most of what you’re referring to is as fabricated as Greek and Roman idols. The Quran is musing of a mad man. It has as much spiritual relevance as transgender child grooming books. It is literally the handbook of Hell.

I dream of dying and going to Heaven. It will happen eventually. I wish it would hurry every chance it gets.

That’s my dream.
