What did you pick up at the blade show?

I hadn't been before. got there around 10:30 Friday (not early entry) and had hoped to pick up one of the microtech 2025 Blade show Ultratech knives. Not sure how many they had but by the time I got to the booth around 11:15 they were sold out. didn't realize they would be sold out so quickly but no big deal.

haven't not been there before I was surprised at the quantity (and quality) of the kitchen knives at the booths. I don't know enough about blades/steel/materials to know the difference between a $150 and $1000 kitchen knife (I do have 2 Bob Kramer/Zwilling kitchen knives) but maybe by next year I can figure things out.

went with my nephew and he was excited to be there and bought a few knives and showed off some of his modified knives.

Lots to see, but must admit the younger crowd playing with the bali/flipper knives at the end of the other area, spooked me as I walked by. Felt like I needed safety glasses.

Show was great, but very tiring for this ol' poot. 3 days standing on concrete takes a toll. Got to visit with a lot of my good friends and customers from all over - Japan, So.Africa, Australia, Canada, Brazil, and almost every state in the Union. So got a pretty sore throat talking over the noise to go with the achy shins.

Only one glitch - someone picked up this little bowie from the awards judging table in another room (not off my table). I'm a pretty tolerant individual but sure dislike thieves. It is 1.5" long, mastodon ivory and wood handle with silver guard and file work on spine. Had a custom fitted leather sheath with a star escutcheon. If you see this one in some ones collection or trying to sell it - know the character of that individual. I don't expect to ever get it back, I can make another just a little PO'd that some folks have such low moral character.

I agree, bali-song flipper "experts" and wanna-be samuri swords men ought to be sequestered in a room all to themselves.

I got 12 knives at the Blade Show, this one was the best find.

Walter Brend custom folder. Made in the mid 90s. Only 47 were made, only one with Stag. These were the only folders ever made 100% by Walter.
