It's an expensive way to do this. How accurate do you need to make the cuts with the press? how does one get the proper measurements?
I would think that as long as the depth is good you could be a little bit off side to side, the trigger and hammer pins would stay in place regardless of if the side to side width was off a bit. Measurements you can get online, the AR receiver diagrams are everywhere.
Thats what im sayin! Someone that cant buy a receiver from a dealer legally, or someone that has a wide selection of tinfoil hats, thats the only thing I can think of.
I wouldn't consider it just becasue of the effort involved... and I've got access to a Bridgeport mill. Not to mention the cost being more than a finished one. Just too much trouble at this point in time. Now, should civilians not be able to purchase a finished AR lower at some point- sure. But I highly doubt such a law would allow 80 or 95% finished lowers to exist.

AFAIK if you are building for personal use you wouldnt need to have a manufacturers license, is this correct?
Also, I guess there are a third and fourth group that would be interested in these besides felons and conspiracy theorists: people who enjoy building things, and people who want a low shelf AR15 receiver for whatever reason...
