What haggling Bothers you

I get folks in the shop all the time with their GI 1911s and want to make it into a loaded model (Beavertail, Commander Hammer, Bobtail, Milled for Novak Sights, milled forward cocking serrations, etc, etc) and if they are starting with a $500 gun, I have to explain that the $450 Rock Island, after $500-$600 worth of work isn't going to be worth $1,000. They are going to spend a $1,000 total but the gun will only be worth what someone would pay for it and that would probably be in $600-$650 range tops. If they are doing the work to make the gun just right for them that's one thing but if they are trying to increase the value that's a whole other proposition.

I talk myself out of more work that way ;)

Your a good man for telling them the truth. People like you are a rare breed. Very nice sir.

I've only had one 'bad' deal...at least in terms of when the deal was as done as an agreed upon price, location and meeting time. The buyer wanted to negotiate after he said "ITI". I simply put the gun back in its box, and the box back in my car, then went inside the restaurant at which we met and had breakfast.

I've had a lot of people breaking off communication while trying to make a trade deal lately...but there's nothing I can do about that but move on.

Brian is the man...on many levels. He has earned my business...and might soon have more if things go my way. ;)

List a few deal breakers for you

1 my gun should fetch top dollar but yours - well - let me pick yours apart.

2 too many questions or asking same question twice - most if us got a clue and we obviously have Internet access

1 is annoying although I tend to ignore that. 2. is not annoying if it leads to a sell or questions are asked where I didn't add all the details. For example, if I assumed that everyone would know about my gun and didn't list any specifics.

Haggling before an "I'll take it" doesn't ever bother me... low bids, poor trades, etc. I just say "no thanks" and more on. 99% of my deals (as CaptDave says) have gone without a hitch and everyone I've met from the ODT has been a pleasure to talk too/deal with (although, sometimes I don't even pursue something I want if the poster has misplaced both their stick and bug, if you know what I mean).

Ive never had a problem with haggling. You can have a 900 dollar glock listed for all I care. I shoot you an offer (what im willing to pay) and if you take it or dont , thats that. It is what it is. I list something for what I think its worth. More often then not I get an offer a little bit below that. If I choose to take it, then thats on me. I dont know why people get upset when people "lowball". My house is valued at 250,000. Will I get that in this market? NO. Am I mad about that? NO. Its called life.

Ive been told many crazy things. "my gun is LNIB with only 100 rounds fired". "this gun is rare" <---- love that one. All part of the game. I enjoy it .
Great way to look at it Mr. Soviet-AK47-4u (I'm sure glad you broke that down for me).
Your attitude make things easier on you and on others. No need to get stressed. Like the old song said: "Don't worry...be happy".

That it. It should be fun. I find it fun. Gun buying on here should not be a PITA. Even though so people make it that way. The 80+ people ive met were awesome. Including you.
