What happened to H414?

Hey guys, I got out of loading for several years. Just getting back into it, my 22-250 loves H414 but I haven’t seen any for sale in a while and Hodgdon doesn’t list it on their site any more. What gives and what should I try to find in its place?

H414 is discontinued. You'll be lucky to find new or old stock in remote locations.

Case filling taken aside, try Vihtavuori N540 or Winchester 760. (Hodgdon was buying Winchester 760 from Olin and relabeling it H414)

Win 760 IS H-414. I see that a wholesaler I buy from has it in 8lb jugs but no 1lb bottles at the moment.

I have read that AA2700 was the same at one time. Looking at AA2700 and looking at H-414, they look identical-I have both.

So, it might be that 414, 760, and 2700 are all the same.

Hodgdon owns the winchester powder branding so it makes no sense to carry the same power under 2 names. Win 760, reduce 10% and work up. Bet your load will be real close if not identical

Thanks for the response fellas. I’ll give AA2700 and 760 if I can find some. I have 2 pounds of H414 left so not time to panic yet.

If you feel like trying something new, try H380. It is my new favorite for 22-250.

I use H380 for my 243 loads and it shoots great.
