What have you been doing at the bench today?

Worked up a nice .300AAC subload
11.2 grains of Accurate 1680 with 220 grain Berrys Spire point bullets.

Banish 30 suppressor with 16” barrel
1” high at 50 yds
Bullseye @ 75 yds
1.5 “ low at 100 yds.

Hoping to pick up some Berry’s this week to try. Loaded up some 220SMK’s with 1680 and CFE BLK to test. 8” 1:5 barrel.

So, I've been researching a suitable powder for 300BLK (other than CFE Black) and 1680 came up. As you know, I'm pretty new to reloading and I haven't used this powder - my Lyman manual has recipes using 1680 across the whole spectrum from light bullets all the way to 250 grain.

Are you still satisfied with it?
Yes vey much so. I’ve tried several loads with CFE BLK and H110 and by far the most consistently best groups have come from 1680. I am new the sub reloading scene so I am by no means an expert. I think for .300AAC 1680 is a very versatile and will be my go to powder.

Loaded 50 rounds of .308, fairly light loads intended for only 100 to 200 yard paper punching with an M1A.
These rounds feature 40.5 grains of Varget behind a ballistic-tip 150 grain bullet.
Many of the once or twice-fired cases needed to be trimmed. Many were 2.035 inches before trimming, and I tried to leave them around 2.008"

Chasing the Garmin Xero Chrono to find a place that has one. Out of stock everywhere.

Annealed some LC brass.

Loaded some new .308 sub loads to try in a Savage 10

Hornady 180gr BTSP
10.5 gr Trail Boss
2.65 c.o.a.l

Hornady 180gr BTSP
8.5gr TiteGroup
2.65 c.o.a.l

Does anyone have a good .308 sub load for bolt gun using 165gr BTSP?

After a lecture on temperature stability from a guy whose advice I pay attention to, I'm getting ready to make up some really precise 300BLK handloads of CFE BLK so I can do some 40deg tests, otherwise I'll have to cheat and go to the range with an ice-box. I'm hoping to score some 1680 real soon so I can test both powders side-by-side.

I was going to do the same with IMR3031 with a 150gr .308 Win rifle, but my guy recommended I save the powder - it's single-base and about as thermally stable as you'll ever find.
