Let's see Sat. I loaded a large storage bin with some powder :) I blended 9 - Different Alliant LOTS and 16lb. of American Reloading's MP 590 (Bulk Canister RL17)
1701.jpg

I did this outside right near the open shop door with a fire extinguisher handy, eye-pro, and the bin, rubber spatula, funnel, and plastic cup I used were all rubbed down with dryer sheets.
1702.jpg

The crappy thing about it was, as I was bringing it back in from the shop I found 2 more pounds and had to re-blend it all :(
1703.jpg

Total Final Weight 46lb. 13oz. Now if only Elon Musk would buy Alliant and fill the jugs all the way up! A 5lb. jug holds over 10lb. :)

So I loaded and fired 182 - .357" 180gr Hornady XTP's for my barrel break-in on my 31" 35 Whelen. I ordered 1lb. of .5Micron HBN (Hexagonal Boron Nitride) from Canada for like $123 (Lowerfriction.com) I super cleaned my Barrel, Bolt/Action, and 50 - Speer 2453's. I coated the barrel, bolt, and action bolt rails. Savages are kinda notorious for pinched bolts on cycling due to the single point of contact in the rear, the HBN and a few drops of oil make it run like a jeweled 700 action. I cleaned the bullets with 99% ISO and tumbled in the an old vitamin bottle with tape on the lid in the dry tumbler (no airsoft bb's, 1/2 tsp. to coat the bottle and bullets) Future tumbles will only require 5gr per 50 (They're pretty big bullets)

I'm sorry but I totally forgot to take a picture of the loaded rounds this morning..
But here is a picture of the target shot at 40yd.... I know it's only 40yd but that was the longest open bay on the private side and the long range was waay too busy for a quick chrono session.

All 5 shot groups, the first groups had bad bullets.. They're exposed soft points and 10 of them got pretty disfigured during the coating process..

and now the numbers.. I think they're F'in impressive. All the brass and primers looks 100% good to go, but I'm not sure I can get more powder in there :) I'm going to order one of the long powder drop tubes, I've never liked loading extruded powders for this reason.. you really need to cram the cases to reap the full benefit. Reloder 17 is magical (So is RL26) and the blend of the lots + MP590 seem to match up real well with QuickLoad

@Reloadhby looks like the 35W got the 8RM ;) I'd also like to Thank You again, for the LR Primers I got from you a while back. They're damn impossible to find right now!

Anyways.. I'm super stoked on this. I can't wait to try and eek out a little more, and take it out to 1,000yd. I'm only 232 shots total in on the gun now, lots more fun to have before a fall Mulie and/or Elk. It would be awesome to get a safe load at 3,001 fps for 5,000 ft.lbs. :) An almost 100yr old cartridge with modern technology/methods just goes to show Whelen/Howe were onto something special. However it wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the Granddaddy 30-06!
Happy & Safe Reloading to y'all

I spent some time this evening with my hand press and bag of 9mm brass. I stopped after sizing 800. I’ll bell tomorrow and prime on Friday for Saturday’s time at the bench.
