My buddy's friend has this from his great grandfather. Any idea what it is, Era, manufacturer, value?

Thanks ODTER'S!

if you send it to gun Jesus (Ian McCollum) he'll give you a kiss and do a 30 minute video on it's intricate history and mechanical workings

I can't tell from your photos, but if it is 9mm, it is probably what they called a "garden gun" which were 9mm shot shell. I have seen them available at Midway Arms. I am also assuming that it is a smooth bore. There used to be quite a few made in Belgium, with most not identified other than their proofmarks.

What caliber or Gauge is it?
To me it looks like a .410 and many of these were called "folding" shotguns-- that's why the hinge area on the bottom of the receiver has a bump like a semi circle. That was designed so the hinge could be located lower and that lets the barrel fold more completely, to touch or nearly touch the buttstock.

If your friend could get some accurate (calipers) measurements of the muzzle diameter. the chamber diameter, exact barrel length (A regular ruler or yardstick would be fine for this),

and some good close-up pictures of any markings or writings on the gun ---including hidden underneath the barrels--

that would be very helpful.
