Hollow point projectile for reloading and why?

I ust admit, I'm still a bit conventional when it comes to HPs on my EDC - I go with a commercial product that some police departments use.

I have some gold dots, have some hornady xtp.. reviews on you tube are al over the board.. everyone seems to have a different outcome with their test

*IF* I was to reload for defensive, I'd probably lean toward Gold Dots rather than anything exotic for my initial research. Certainly the Hornady stuff has wildly conficting reviews.

I had outstanding ballistics gel results out of RMR's predecessor to their current "nuke" offering in 9mm Luger. I'll test the new version pretty soon. And their pricing is very hard to beat.
