what rifle to pick deer hunting

most of my dozens of adirondack monsters have been dropped with a 25 06 as well......
and i have to say when it comes to a 30 30....i prefer marlin.........

30 30 definately........these mountains are very similar to the adirondacks

If your having a hard time seeing that front sight, install some TruGlo sights like I did on mine! Makes a world of difference!

Agree ^^. There are alot of options to upgrade the open sights, even a dot of white, florescent red, yellow, or orange, etc. paint with fine brush or toothpic can make a world of difference, easy and cheap to do. A reasonibly priced scope w/see through mounts would be a nice upgrade also if you have a few extra $. But the 30/30 is probably the most versital weapon out there. Descent range and a good brush gun.

with the 30\30 the fornt sight is hard to see im try think of away to make it more visble any one got any ides

Just a touch of white or yellow paint. If you have not tried peep sights they also help you focus on the front sight. I love this guy's products.

It is refreshing to see so many votes for the old standby 30-30.

If it is a Marlin, you can install a lower powered scope. Otherwise the aforementioned tru glo sights are OK but brittle. White or yellow paint are typically harder to see than black since they contrast less with things in nature. The idea of a good rifle sight is not to have you focusing on it more than your target.

i only have one... I was given a zastava mark X in .308 with a swift 4-2x40 scope. This will be my first full deer season and second time going. I is excite... but fully expecting not to even see a deer for 5 years or so. lol
