Two that stood out:
Greg Allman at Anthony's Pier 4 in Boston. The Allman Bros. had a show at the Boston Garden the following night with Molly Hatchet as the opening act. Greg was wearing a suit with cowboy boots and had a beautiful woman on each arm. he was behind us standing in line to be seated and no one else seemed to recognize who he was. We shook hands and he was very genuine.
Jimmy Carter on a Delta flight to Bozeman. The flight always leaves from Concourse A and it was changed to Concourse F. Two Suburbans pulled up beside the plane and Jimmy and Rosalyn got out with two Secret Service agents and rode up an elevator to the concourse to board the plane. He shook hands with everyone on the plane and then sat in the middle of the plane (not first class). He was going to vacation at the Flying D Ranch owned by Ted Turner.
I know earlier in this thread you guys were joking that pro wrestlers do not count as celebrities. I used to work out at Coffee's Gym in the 1980s and 1990s and the wrestlers were always there. Very friendly and always willing to give a spot if you were working out alone. I have to say out of all the "celebrities" I have seen at airports, restaurants, etc. the pro wrestlers were always the most gracious to the kids, and in particular handicapped or special needs kids. I observed the Steiner (Ricsteiner) brothers Scott and Rob (who wrestled as Rick) talk to a special needs boy in a wheelchair at the airport like the boy was the one who was the celebrity. That was just one instance of many I saw.
I have heard that many times about the Wrestlers.
Look up DDP Yoga for confirmation.
He has tried to help many of his former coworkers.
There was a documentary on it a few years ago & the Jake Roberts’ episodes are all the proof I need.
