What vehicle would you buy to drive 85 miles a day in Atlanta?

We always kept a good road car. We spent a lot of time on the road. Diesel would be a good idea. Less service to deal with and better fuel economy. So that would be a Euro car. They are expensive. I was driving 102 mi a day, 6-7 days a week. I laughed every time I went to the pump. I was stopping every 4 1/2 days. I cut it down to about every week and a half. I was driving a Dodge with a Cummins and changed to a Mercedes 300D. 35 gal tank to 18.5. :becky:
Now for best dependability, Lexus or Toyota. In that order. We have a Camry working on 400k miles. Great little skate board as I call it, but it ain't no road trip car to me. We also had Crown Vic and Mercury Marquise. Great road cars. The 80s Town Cars where nice too. Even an old Chevy Impala.

As someone who travels in and through ATL regularly I’d recommend something good on gas has really good brakes, something you really don’t care about, something that doesn’t scream I have $$ break into me and is comfortable enough to sit in for hours stuck in traffic. The traffic sucks and the people drive like a**holes. Good luck and welcome to hell on wheels! 👍

If you're thinking commuting to your job in a Volkswagen,
then go with a fried-out Kombi.
It's a great vehicle for Men at Work.

Tesla or Prius.

Some things to consider:

It should be a QUIET ride. if you're on the highway, the noise can really wear you out.

The stereo / gps / car play can make a difference if you need to communicate the entire drive.

The seats should have enough adjustment that you can be comfortable and change when you need it.

I drive more than that now in an f150 and pay more than a car payment in gas every month...

6th or 7th gen non hybrid Toyota Camry 2007-2017. If you find a 1 owner with maintenance records. Probably the most reliable car on the planet statistically.
If you wanna sex it up a bit with badges, leather and a quieter cabin go to the Lexus ES 350 range.
