What's a good spinning combo for crankbaits?

I need a new spinning combo for shallow crankbaits. Would like to spend as little as possible, $40-$80, because I fish out of a kayak and just knocked(lost) my rod overboard yesterday.. I'm not sure what to look for in a rod/reel for shallow square bills, but I was previously using a 6' M Berkley Lightning Rod with a Abu Garcia Cardinal spinning reel and liked it a lot.

I'm looking at the Pflueger President , Pfleuger Trion, and Shakespere Ugly Stik all in 6' Med. as possible replacements. Anyone have any opinions on these combos or any others?

I put foam on my kayak rods havent lost one since.6' med seems right.

What weight cranks are you using? Do you think the med light would work well with 3/8 oz?

I mainly use a #7 rapala, but that is my fav. rod from bream to trout , cats, and up to about 4lb river bass. I even shoot docks with it for crappie.
