Whats going rate on a 70s series colt

mint i'd say 800-1000 to me personally esp in the slow market, i've missed a few good shaped shooters in the 550 mark

I dare you to go on the Colt or 1911 forum and post the above with your home address.

Haters gonna hate.

Unlike many guns, the new Colts are much better made than the old stuff. Get one with the traditional firing system and you have a real winner. The parts look like something from of a jeweler's workbench, not the Kyber Pass looking parts found in other "modern" guns.

It is a shame the M45 is not available with the traditional firing system.

And....., how many companies make kits to install finger collet bushings in Colt, or any other make gun?

I agree that Colt had some labor issues in the late 70’s/early 80’s...and I won’t buy a Colt made in that time period. Actually, I won’t buy ANYHING made in that time period if I can help it. I also agree that Colt quality in recent years has improved.
But your blanket statement “the new Colts are much better made than the old stuff” made me chuckle.

I have 1964 Colt SAA and a 1972 GCNM...if they are the “old stuff” you are saying is crappy then I will be happy to take any of your old stuff off your hands. Hell, I’ll even trade you even for the higher quality new stuff you prefer.

So, my offer is this. Assuming both are in same high condition, for every newer, higher quality Colt SAA or 1911 you can find...say made in the last 15 years...I will trade you straight up even for any old crappy 1st or 2nd gen SAA’s or 70 Series 1911 GCNM.

Then you get the newer, higher quality stuff that is much better made and I get the old crappy, Kyber pass stuff. Deal?
