What's your best "accidental good shot"

I have two...one was the handgun shot on a 165-lb. 4-pointer (hey, it was my first deer). 40-45 yards, up hill, through a small gap in the brush, as he was steady walking. Hit the buck 6" behind his right foreleg, dropped him like rock. Could I do it again...I dunno, but I'd like to try.

Second one was year before last at my buddy's deer camp. We were hunting hog after deer season. He bet I couldn't hit a real estate sign with my S&W 19-5 snubby at 35 yards. Should have put money on that one. Could I do it again...maybe if I was shooting every weekend like I was at that time.

Damnedest shot I ever saw was my childhood best friend with his bow. We were having fun in his back yard shooting his compound bow at a large Tide detergent box. We were probably 30 or so yards from the box. I couldn't even hit the box...he was giving me crap of course (early teens taunting...you know). So I told him if he was so good...he should be able to hit the 'dot' above the 'I'...and damned if he didn't do it! Of course, this friend shot Rifle Team for the ROTC at my high school. In his late teens he had a competition rifle with which he could cut the stem on a wine glass at 100 yards. I wish I could shoot a bow or a rifle as good as he could.

When you shoot constantly these incidents happen pretty often but a recent one that I got a chuckle out of happened like this.

This past Fri. I had a decent sized Ladies class all from the private school where my kids go.
We were discussing the difference between a "flash" sight picture used at closer distances vs. dedicated sight pictures when one is further out.
At 7 yards I raised a S&W M&P .22 and fired at the head of one of the ladies SQT A-1 targets as soon as my arms were fully extended.
The bullet hole was dead center of the head.... no big deal.

Then to demonstrate the same technique would work with a larger gun I drew my Glock 23 out & again, fired at the head w/o any hesitation as soon as the gun was fully extended.
Right over the exact hole where the .22 bullet hit, there now was a .40 hole in the exact same place.

A few of the ladies gasped. I calmly told them that would probably be my last demo for the day.

As many of us relating these kinds of shots would probably agree to, you do have to fight the urge
to spin the gun around your finger a few times before reholstering.

Yep...the temptation to spin the gun is hard to resist.

I just remembered another one. I had a friend who had a 9mm Ruger P-series...but this dude's technique was horrible. He was definitely a 'spray & pray' defense shooter. So...he asked me to shoot it once to see if something was wrong with the gun. I hit dead center head shot with it...handed it back to him...and said 'shoots fine to me.' Never touched the gun before the shot...wasn't allowed to ever again afterward! It was pure luck...but that did make my head swell slightly.

I was 14-15 on my grandparents property in NE Alabama. I got in my climber and was there maybe 20 mins with my new at the time Howa M1500 .308. Mind you this gun had no scope yet "no irons either" as all I had saved up for was the gun but I had such an itch to get in the woods I would have used a spear! 4 deer walk the line to my climber. I waited until one was directly in front of my stand and pulled the trigger. She ran off, and I looked up after I lost sight of her and the other three were just standing there. I cycled another round, aimed down the barrel and pulled the trigger. 2 dropped and one ran off. I went to go get the first one, "still amazed at dropping three in 2 shots". We loaded it in the back of my Grandpa's truck and were going to get the other two. I got to the other two and saw something white about 100 yards away. We loaded the other two up and walked over there and saw another dead deer. I killed 4 deer in 2 shots. 1 with the first and 3 with the second. The second shot went in the first ones lungs, hit the second in the left eye and blew off the right side of its head, and into the third ones neck, but didn't come out. No one believed me until I got back to the house and showed them I still had 18 bullets out of a box of 20. Definitely the luckiest shot I have ever had. Could never do it again, and probably wouldn't have another chance to do it again. I consider myself a good shot but not that good, especially without optics of any kind. I think my Grandma still has the polaroid of me and my Grandpa with all 4.

Buddy of mine was shooting bottles with his GLOCK!!!! And we got into the argument about what was better my 1911 or his glock! So there he was shooting, and he said it. "This Glock will Out shoot they 1911 any day". I was about maybe 30 or 40 feet away, I quickly stood up pulled my 1911 out my holster and shot the lid off of a Mountain Dew bottle. His eyes got big and I said "You Where Saying?" Epic couldn't do it again if I tried lol

wasn't accidental, but....

Had a new Rossi .357 I was playing with. 20yards.
this one started off as an accident, then I added the second 'eye'. Ten yards.

Took my new to me Glock 37 in .45 gap to the range and the very first shot was a perfect bullseye at 10 yards, witnessed by a LEO in the next lane.

It's been my 'go to' model and caliber ever since. I soon found out it was not an accident - the Glock 37's may be the most accurate Glocks, even according to Glock.

Don't knock em till you get familiar with shooting glocks in general then try a 37. Don't razz me about ammo availability - i've never found it to be a problem and i have plenty.
