It would take 5 grand just to stock the boat for an around the world trip. Oh wait? They could catch fish to eat and have the whole ocean to drink! They spent 5 grand restoring the old boat?
What did they have done, just the upholstery?
This story doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
This wasnt like going out in a runabout across a lake... You don’t see the difference between “Caution to the wind” and stupidity? Yikes... How about the “Emergency Services “ that were called and put their life on the line to save these idiots....
Throwing caution to the wind IS stupidity. Real adventurers are some of the most cautious and well organized people you will ever meet. The only difference is a matter of opinion whether or not it was stupidity or they threw caution to the wind.
As far as the Emergency services, those guys signed up to do exactly what they did. If you think for one second that they'd rather be playing checkers versus doing what they train for on a everyday basis, I'd be willing to wager that they'd rather save stupid people's lives.

Again, from your completely clueless perspective they did put innocent people at risk.. But because “signed up” then thats ok...
