There was nothing in the article about their plans, other than they wanted to sail around the world. No one said they were heading straight out into the Atlantic on their way to Africa. Maybe they were going to sail done they coast to gain experience bumming around the Keys or all the way around the Gulf Coast. Everybody making assumptions and piling on with only a short news story with no real info.

They way some of you are acting, there would have never been any Europeans in North America, or early mountain men explorers expanding the US beyond the east coast.

They may be huge idiots and trying to earn double Darwin Awards, but there is not enough info to determine that.

Not exactly. Early explorers knew plenty about navigation, the boats they lived on, and spent their entire lives learning about them. They didn't simply jump on a raft and hope for the best.

There is not enough info in the story about any of their preparations or actual planning. Maybe the boat was loaded with food and water. What else would they require to sail down the coast?

Either way, I wouldn't send them any money. They made their own choices.
