Where's a good spot to fish in Cherokee/Cobb county?

Looking to get back into the sport but never did any fishing in Georgia. I'd love to hear of some local honey holes. Mainly looking for some river access as I have no boat but would like to get any kind of feedback.

Chattahoochee at 285 and at Northside Parkway has plenty of wading areas. Shoal bass and trout (during fall, winter and spring).

Anything would do. I'm from the Great Lakes State and fished just about everything every season, just need a little direction. I went around Morgan Falls dam this week and tried under the 400 bridge but the water was screamin' by. Prolly just need to get me a little Jon boat so I can explore the hooch. Any know good spots, NORTH of Atlanta? I've heard about the hooch south of Atlanta...
