Which Colt AR model?

You know the owner personally? WOW
Grew up with the family/used to work there/still do contract-based armoring work for their customers.

Anyway, yes, it's still there and is $949, unfired (that means traded in by a customer so they can't sell it as new, but seller and condition seem to indicate unfired; at least since the factory). I told the owner to see what jackwagon gave you bad info on the phone and fire him (kidding, sort of).

And they are sure its a SOCOM? I wouldn't be able to get out that way until Friday or so.

I have a bnib Colt SOCOM gun I'll sell you the upper for 850.00 if interested. It has the KAC rail. Not the Troy. I bought the gun mainly to have access to the lower. I also have a lightly used factory 14.5 SOCOM upper if you want to go the SBR route. Just throwing it out there.

Exactly. It's kinda hard to justify an extra couple hundred bucks on just the rollmark.
In all honesty, it's not just a roll mark. It's every single part and every single spec, made the way it's supposed to be. AND it includes the KAC rail. That alone puts it into a similar cost category or least reduces the cost proposition to apples vs apples. For $950, it's a good deal. When you started the thread, you said it's what you wanted, so get what you want, not what we tell you that you *should* want.

You dont think the regular 6920 and the SOCOM are built to the same specs internally? I've been trying to find the differences and this is what I've discovered so far:

Barrel: The SOCOM has a thick profile barrel under the handguard vs the regular LE6920. However this is a moot point since I'd switch out the barrel for the real 14.5" SOCOM barrel.

Buffer: The SOCOM has a H2 buffer vs just a H buffer in the LE6920.

Handguard: As was mentioned the SOCOM came with the KAC rail for a while until they switch over to the Troy quad rail. Since a good rail from what I've read but not authentic enough for me so I would at the very least switch it out with a KAC rail or get a free float quad rail.

Rear sight: Matechs are about $90 but I need an extra rear sight anyway.

I haven't seen anything that says that the SOCOM has any other internal differences. Its still labeled a LE6920, just a different model of it. If I can get an actual SOCOM for under $1000 I'd get it in a heartbeat but if all I can find are the ones on gunbroker going for $1400 I'll pass and just get the Colt OEM1 and add the handguard, rear sight, and H2 buffer.

No, they are essentially the same gun, with a different barrel and the rail. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but when the socom was originally introduced, it came with the heavy socom profile barrel and a KAC rail. Have they changed the configuration?
