I'm sitting home sick with my daughter watching The Toy. This country is constantly patting itself on the back for how far it's progressed, but watching this movie reminds me how far back we've fell in some respects. Even though this movie is solidly liberal, I don't believe there's a chance in hell it could be made today.

What other movies from the past can you think of that dealt head-on with issues that modern movies seem to tip-toe around?

I don't believe the original Rollerball would be made using the same political message.

My wife is a bit younger than me and can't believe that movie was ever made.

i havent paid attention to any new movie in like 5 or 6 years

seriously nothing original or worth a damn has really come out, some ok stuff but its just ok

Sargeant York. :usa2: Too old? Heck ANY truly patriotic movie.

Watched this the other night for 10,777th time. I almost have the thing memorized.

Eastwood still makes politically incorrect movies. I'm pretty sure he enjoys it too.

If Mel Brooks was starting out today, he could make about zero of his classics. No one now would make a movie that slaps so many 'elephants' in one room at one time.
