Whole house generator

If I were going to do it today, I would get a Tesla type wall battery system and have a multi fuel generator to recharge it when power is out for along time.

They are expensive and picky on how they are charged. Generac on natural gas is actually a LOT less expensive.

Sure, there are incentives from Uncle Sugar but I just don't feel they are competitive yet. I used to want one of them with their Solar Shingles but the shingles never panned out.

I’m with ya…I’m looking at going whole house also. I can get my electrician to hook up. Will just need to get the genne and gear. Natural gas so I could keep the 8500 Northern for backup backup. Ain’t such a big deal here cause cooking and heating water is gas and gas logs in the fireplace. I gotta little Honda 2000 that’ll run the fridge forever on a tank. Just don’t like having to pull the heavy bastard out and get it hooked up. Lazy….
Power went out Friday afternoon late for about 30 mins. I was debating getting the big guy out but didn’t .
Tractors are your friend.......

At least have it where you can use it for propane, gasoline or natural gas
No such thing... you have to pick one because they don't work the same for different fuels.

If you want a 100% off-grid generator you are talking something with a tank. Propane, diesel, etc. The natural gas 'grid' is just as susceptible to centralized shutdown as the electric grid is.

That's why I said multiple fuels
