who's been to Germany?

and a lot of thick women too help you eat them bratwursts too

Nah bro...the freuleins in Germany are fine as frog hair. Half the G.I.s stationed there since the end of the 40's brought back wives from there. The rest just left their hearts(and the odd bastard) behind.

Oh man! I used to love the Schnell Imbiss! Grab ein bratwurst mit pommes und ein bier and sit down by the river watching the Germans have heat strokes in the 75 degree summer. LOL!
I was in Ramstein during a heat wave a few years back (actually killed a few folks there), checked in at the hotel in Homburg, they handed me a 6" fan to clip on the bed for my A/C

After a night of drinking and lots of bratwurst, housekeeping got one hell of a surprise when they walked in before knocking the next AM

I spent about 12 years of my Army Career There and go back almost every year for vacation. Of course it does help when you have a German Wife and your In-laws live there, lol. My advice would be, Get out of the City unless you like the City life. Berlin is just like any other big City and it is a Trap. Big Tourist Trap that is.

For the best time, get out into the countryside and stay at small little Guesthouses. They will treat you well and you will get more bang for your Euro. The best times I had were in Bayern, or Southern Germany but that would depend on where you go like anything else.

Have fun, enjoy the culture and drink some of the best beer in the world.

I loved the history there. This is called the "Bein Haus(Bone house). It's behind the church in Oppenheim about 5 miles from where I was stationed.. It's where they put the bones of the people who dies of the black plague. They burned the bodies and then interred the bones like this:

In this picture you can se where people would touch the forehead. It polished the skull. I thought it was disrespectful(not to mention mildly unsanitary).

Can't like this enough. Gasthauses are great. Little family owned bed and breakfast places with the nicest people in the world. ANd go to every small restaurant you can. Skip the big ones. The little mom and pop places are fabulous. I used to go to a small place in Nierstein called Zwolf Apostle(Twelfth Apostle). It was owned by an Italian-German Named Santos who was the nicest guy I think I ever met. And his wife(Mama Santo's) did all the cooking. She'd bring lasagna to the table still sizzling in the bowl she cooked it in.

Came back to Nierstein late one night and the bus had stopped running to our base. We asked someone if there was a taxi in town(very small town). He walked us over to a house and banged on the door. A woman stuck her head out of a second story window and they spoke for a minute. A minute later she opened the garage in her night robes drove the taxi out and took us to the barracks.

Really wonderful people.

Ich Liebe Deutchland.
