Who's done ATV trails in Colorado?

I lived out there for 10 years and used to do a lot of day trips around the front range but no multi-day excursions. I would definitely shoot for July or August. Winter can run long and if it was a big snow year the higher elevations can still be covered into the summer months.

Do you plan on camping?

It is beautiful out there no doubt, just a shame were it has gone politically (and why we left 2 years ago). I do miss the trails, hiking, atv's etc. though.

.

Probably not camping, i'm too high maintenance now.

Did this one a couple times in my 4x4 truck. Made camp overlooking lake at Lake City.

That trip will be epic!! I’m not camping overnight , but will be doing an atv tour in Alaska with my kids this summer. We’ll be in campers and do some halibut and salmon fishing. I consider a camper not really camping......

To clarify, camping IMO is a tent and no power/water. haha. I really prefer hotels, cabins, etc., but they fill up a year in advance and might not find anything closeby.

I have a 30 and 40 foot fifth wheel campers............but can't tow them and bring the SxS.
Maybe I can find a cheap and functional slide in camper and tow the utility trailer?

Was in Colorado years ago and always dreamed abour riding a dirt bike in them mountains. Settled for mountains of north Alabama lol. Was still fun.

Did a week of Piute trails in Utah. Up to 13,700 ft elevation. ATVs were carbureted. They had very little power above 12,000 feet. It was amazing.
yup!!! I have EFI now and i'll never go back to a carb vehicle.

Need to condition for those mountains, five years ago was last time i was at any altitude, almost to top of pikes peak and it was shut down for icy roads. 13k feet and I walked a little bit and was winded.

Picked up a Honda Pioneer yesterday, going to use at the hunt club for some narrow trails we have where the toyota or tahoe won't fit. Pigging backing that concept ------

As a kid/teenager, visited Colorado for several summers in a row w/my dad. Love it there. We explored some awesome things in a rental car.
Now it's time to do that with my son. Been wanting to for years, but my son was too young, however, he is 9 now and this is on my bucket list.
Apparently for $25 you can get an OffRoadSticker for colorado and take your SxS or 4 wheeler on these trails. Thousands of miles!!! Think it will be a blast and a half...!!!

1500 miles from here....blah, two day drive, and high elevations are still cold in May and beginning of June. May wait until July when it is miserable here in GA to venture out west.

Anyone else done this with Jeeps, 4x4's, SxS, 4 wheeler or dirt bike???
Please share............................
Check out thr Colorado Rainbow Trail in West cliff Colorado. It runs a 100 miles inn the Sangre de Cristo mountain range.A portion can be used by motorized vehicles.
