No one likes them due to design. When Hi-Point went shopping for and engineer/designer to lead their company, they hired a blind French man. They figured the blind designer, was going to shed light on a design with such elegance and beauty us seeing people could not phantom.
Instead, the blind French man came up with this...
Probably because the hipoint owners are quickest to get their panties in a wad, people bash xd, glock, m&p, sig, hk, 1911's, ria, ruger, dpms, bushmaster, nfa poly lowers etc...
At the end of the day, it's the hi point owners that get the most offended.
It's a cheap handgun, you get what you pay for. You can tell a Glock guy how proud you are of your hi point, and he'll poke fun at your gun, by the same token, I can tell chopper duke and soviet ak47 how proud I am of my glock, and they'll poke fun of it...I can tell Romaliyou how sweet my glock is, he'll tell me his 1911 is better etc etc.
End of the day, it's the hi point guys that get most butthurt.
For the longest time, I didn't even know they were pistols. I just kinda half wondered why my local pawn shop had vacuum cleaner attachments in the same glass display with hand guns.
I own a Hi-Point 9mm rifle. Its a POS. However, it was the first firearm that I legaly purchaced at the age of 18. So as much of a POS it is, I can never get rid of it. Kinda like if you had a daughter whos face looked like it had been beaten with a 2x4. Kind of stuck with it...
I'll throw this in. If it was my money, no way it's getting spent on a hi point. Now, your money, do what you want. Only thing that matters is what YOU think of your gun. If your happy with it knock yourself out, enjoy the 2nd! Just don't expect everyone to feel the same about your gun as you do. Like I said before, I've seen members hate like crazy on Glock, think I care?
I hated Glocks with a passion for many years because the only 2 I ever tried were subcompact models and while I could hit okay with them, I was more accurate with any given Ruger or 1911. Ruger P345 was my everyday carry of choice. I don't think that gun was capable of missing....see!
My son has it now. So...figured I'd give Glock a go...traded for a 21...love it! especially the quick reset on the trigger and how level the heavier Glocks stay. I can hit as well with big Glocks as I can the Ruger. So now I have an array of Full size Glocks and a G23 (compact as I'll ever go) for Every day Carry. I still like my CBob better than any of them so the 1911 guys aren't off too bad. I still hate baby Glocks btw. Hi Points, I just kinda feel sorry for the ugly little bastards.
Where the hell is Johnny? I shot a 9mm carbine today for the first time courtesy of Survivor Johnny. It kicked like a much larger rifle but did not fail in any way and I hit every thing I shot at. I was impressed.
