WHY !!!! ??????

well i was born and raised in Miami, Fl. ok so i have seen people shot and killed in front of me, so i know what the REAL WORLD IS LIKE , i do not blame the trooper, i blame the dam training, if you try to pull over some one and they run you know they are a bad guy, and when you stop them you make sure you are in control by having your gun drawn and command the person to get The F*&^ out of the car. you do not walk up to a car that has been running from you.

all that being said, the trooper messed up big time, no1. if someone runs from you call for back up.
no2. if said person is stopped pull your gun and make the perp, get out of the freaking car. never go up to a car , make the perp. come to you. God bless his family he made a big mistake and paid the price. the court system is a joke. the georgia state patrol needs to make some changes in thier training.

I don't know. Sure looks like he's blaming the trooper to me....

“What we know at this point is that the defendant was before a magistrate on Dec. 13, 2010... Superior Court Pretrial Services recommend that Favors not be released." (AJC Article above).

Perhaps the magistrate should have to make reparations to the trooper's family. He now has blood on his hands as well, since he turned this animal loose to commit further crimes against humanity.

This scumbag's scumbag attorney says he "is a little slow". My behind...he is a career criminal. He was released on bond/bail for 5 counts only 3 days earlier...and was supposed to be in court the morning of the shooting. So, he was wearing clothing fitting the description of the perp...carrying a 9MM (same caliber as the victim was shot with)...ran from the police 2X in the same night...and had blood on his hands when arrested. Yeah...there's a stand-up citizen who just happens to be a 'scared young man'. Whatever...I hope he gets the death penalty. I hope the trooper's wife gets to watch...

My understanding is that the vehicle he was chasing crashed, and he was going in to offer aid. The assailant cracked open his passenger door and popped off three shots, striking the trooper in the neck.

Even if he had his gun out and pointed in the direction of the vehicle with his finger on the trigger, there's a snowball's chance in hell the outcome would've been any different.

you do not WALK UP TO A CAR THAT HAS BEEN RUNNING FROM YOU.

no i am blaming the Georgia state patrol for non training. he had only been on the force for 2 years and they put him in the worst part of town.

For the love of God, leave it be... a good man is dead; there is no need to armchair quarterback the tragedy. The man died two days after Christmas; his family has enough to deal with, without catching wind of anything like this on chat boards.

vanguard, I totally understand where you are coming from but the man is dead. Try not to tarnish his memory with a lot of woulda coulda shouldas. His SOP may have been put in place so who really knows why this happened. Only the perp the officer , god and the dash cam knows. So try not to jump to conclusions. Being a police officer in ANY part of town is dangerous... They are over worked and underpaid.
