Working out

Jack3d was banned & supplements do work. Crossfit is just dangerous and to many people get hurt from it. You should know if you worked out for 20 years that they teach you bad form

I have to disagree. They teach proper form, but too many people sacrifice it for speed, and end up hurting themselves. But if you look at the legit competitors they have some of the best form out there.

Crossfit isn't dangerous if you use good form. But when your going against the clock you will lose your form to try and go faster. It's just way to much money for me.

Key word is if. I have watched people do it down here where I live & just walked away when I couldnt stand to look anymore.

To each his own of course, but I am not trying to burn muscle I am putting on & when you reach to high of a heart rate that happens

The best results I have seen was with this exact plan.

Day 1. Chest; flat bench (5x5) 2 warm up sets
Incline (5x5)
Flat fly's (4x8)
Incline fly (4x8)
Triceps; overhead extensions (5x5)
Close grip flat bench (5x5)
Dips (4x8)
Bent over extensions (4x8)
Abs followed by 20 minutes of sprint a minute walk a minute
*** for all sets of (5x5) do a drop set on the last set of 5.

Day 2 is back and 3 is legs with the exact same rep scheme just insert exercises.

1RM results
Bench- from 225 to 265
Dead lift was 255 to 350
Squat was 185 to 265. Oh and it was in 6 months

Would something like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich be good for before the gym?

No peanut butter is pretty fatty & if I eat one its around 10 to 11 in the AM. Eat fruits before.

Hackja4fun,
You are seriously mistaken with this comment. Peanut butter has healthy fats. Are you telling everyone that out of a pb and j sandwich that peanut butter is the enemy? That is way off.

Crossfit isn't for everyone, I agree. If you're looking to get in great shape, it's very effective. You will not look like a bodybuilder doing Crossfit, but that's not the point. I'd also argue that money-wise it isn't that much different if you're planning on buying supplements for a regular gym routine. This isn't a regular lifting vs. Crossfit argument. I'm just offering it as something that has worked for me and a good alternative.

Your exercise will end up boosting your energy. There is a product called NUUN that is magnesium and potassium that dissolves in water. I take a couple an hour or so before long runs in the summer to prevent cramping.

Don't worry about miracle products, and energy crap. Just eat well and continue to be active.

My best advice is to pop into a local running store (not a big box store) and get preperly fitted for shoes. Then join up with a running group. It definitely helps to have some folks of similar physical condition with whom to run.

Also if you want to spend a small amount of money get a good gps watch. They are invaluable for keeping yourself on pace, and pushing yourself when running alone. I saw huge gains in pace after I started using one. Now if I could get over an injury I'll be back at it. Good luck!

Just don't eat the "j", pure sugar.

Very true. But why pay for the gym when u can just go to crossfit.com and follow the WOD's. lol with that being said I am very tempted to get the level 1 cert.
