Looks like the question is "What gun would you want with you if you needed a gun?" Maybe some of the answers should make us rethink our current daily carry if our answer is not what we normally carry. I mean true maybe there is more of a chance of a confrontation but in reality each of us could be faced with a similar situation any day. In reality if I were in the same situation I would carry my 60 in my right front pocket and either a K frame or my Glock 19 IWB. I am confident with simply one of the later but the 60 adds the ability to have my hand on the gun without seeming like a threat and would serve as an ace in the hole and more than likely the only card that would come into play.

This is the basic question. I presented it in a real life high risk situation that I encounterd that made me rethink my basic carry. It is easy to debate shot placement vs round count online. If I had asked this question without the scenerio presented we probably would just have had a spirited revolver or single stack vs double stack debate with lots of good points by all. Put some real danger in the situation and things may change.
My hat is off to those who are confident in their skills and abilities and feel that 5 shots is enough. There have been a lot of drug arrests in the area lately. In every case police conviscated drugs and GUNS. The bad guys are well armed these days.Do I feel comfortable with 5 shots knowing I might find myself with my back against the wall in an isolated area going against one,two or even more armed meth heads? No I do not.

No doubt. I felt quite confident carrying my J frame until one day a inmate escaped and was running near my inlaws. I had to go to my wifes grandmothers to get some clothes so that she could stay with us. I realized when I swung by the house to grab my 19 that maybe my J frame wasnt the best idea for me to carry daily. I will say my confidence level increase greatly with my K frame but then again so does my skill level. I also shot a bug qualifier with my J frame and realized I dont shoot it as well as I thought. I realized then that while some are well armed with a 5 shot J frame I am not. My 2" S&W Model 64 and my Glock 26 are as small as I am comfortable with my ability to handle whatever situation may arise.

NO to both, the 357 is just extra weight. the G19 w/extra mags will do just fine. targets don't stay still in a gun fight, so more ammo is better than less.
