I'm going to my parents house tomorrow. I will dig through the old pics and see if I can dig one up. I remember it like it as yesterday and it was 20 years ago. I have never no had a dog. My parents had them my whole life, and this is the only time I've been purposely bit. They put the dog down after it bit my friend ( owner) across her face about a year later. She still has a scar across her nose after plastic surgery. They said they found a large brain tumor. But I never really believed they did a necropsy on the animal. I think it was a grumpy ass dog that hated life.

Would your untrained family dog protect you or your family from an intruder?

Yikes. Extra treats for this dog. Stuff like this scares me to death. My neighborhood is new construction and workers everywhere. My wife and child are home while I'm at work. My dogs go nuts when someone approaches the house. If nothing else this would make me rob the house next door without a dog to worry about. If they get through the door they will get jumped on by the dogs ( who knows if they will bite him hard, but he is getting held up at least ) allowing her the time to get to a gun. At least that's the plan.
I have a Blue Heeler & she is sharp..the most alert dog I've ever had,I'm guessing it's the Dingo in her. She is 45 lbs of don't give a s**t when it comes to other animals..no matter how big they are,but humans..all I've seen her do is bark & raise holy hell if a stranger comes up. She puts the brakes on them when they get near the porch & her hackles go up..which would stop anyone short of a hardcore perp. who's going to kill/disable the dog anyway
. Personally,I view my dog as the first layer of my alarm system..not my ultimate defender. If she raises a ruckus & offers distraction..she has done her job. With todays sue happy society...I don't know that I want a dog any more aggressive than this...

Blue healers are pretty awesome. There was a guy in Carrollton who had 3 with him at anytime. They never left his truck bed until commanded to get out. He could leave them there for hours, rain or shine he said they always wanted to to so he let them
My landlord said the guy was scared of her, so that didn't help. I know at the end of the day you never know what's gonna happen until the day it does, but i would like to think she would, but i'm not relying solely on her to protect me or my loved ones.
I've had a pit shepherd mix (rip) that was that way. Literally he never got excited until we went camping one night. Someone came out of the woods into our spot, and during that he jumped up, bared teeth, growling, hair standing up etc. turned out to be a family friend who was shocked as we were. Once he recognized him our dog put his head down and ran up to him as if to say I'm sorry.
Don't know how mine would behave. I have a 90lb airedale. He has always been mr mellow with people and other dogs with the exception of one of my neighbors. This guy lived in his brothers basement and whenever my dog would see or sense him he would go ape **** trying to get out side. The guy had never been to my house or anything so it was kind of strange.
most dogs i have seen would be useful as early warning systems to inform the owner something was wrong, but even the big ones i have sen that aren't trained will bark their heads off at the problem but not really attack. after the dog warns you then the firearms come into play to solve the problem
