Would your untrained family dog protect you or your family from an intruder?

I came across this video and it really makes you think twice about having so much faith in whether that dog you feed daily and rely on to protect your home or your family would actually step up and do it, or would they run away or just lick the bad guy.

Without a doubt.

We have a Chow and a Rhodesian Ridgeback that could care less about me, but will kill if you get close to my wife or the house.

Had a few close calls already with bug guys and FedEx.

My lab/basenji mix would roll right onto his back if someone broke in... he doesn't bark or yodel so he's not even good as an alarm

My 2 kill anything that comes on the property critter-wise, I am sure they would defend us. Folks outside the property fence do not walk close to it because it is a mad rush and lots of "get back" barking from these two. With us they are as gentle as lambs.

All of mine would attack. They are usually quite friendly but they can sense when we don't care for someone or we are in a uncomfortable situation and they start to become protective/ aggressive towards a threat. They have made people stop and turn away from attempting to come up into our porch with their barking. But protection is not really why we have them. They are part of our family and we treat them as such. 🐶
